Portrait - Maternity

Maternity

Maternity portraits are best taken at 32-36 weeks and in my private studio, so you can feel comfortable.

I place lighting to enhance only the curves we want to show off and reduce others. Stretch marks, rash, belly button piercing marks etc can be easily eliminated before images to go print.

Wear loose fitting clothes on the way to your portrait session and, if you want nude images avoid underwear that will leave marks.

Do your hair and makeup as you normally would prior to the session. You can bring a few items of clothing if you wish eg a button through shirt, scarfs, nice underwear.

I have a variety of wraps for silhouette style images. You can also bring your partner and/or other kids if you want them to be part of the session.

Portrait - Baby

Baby

What age is best for baby portraits??

Newborns look great curled up in Dad’s large hands, they are easy to cradle.
If you are after sleeping images then the best times to achieve this is when they are only a week – 10 days old.
You may need to book this for a week after your due date and then we can fine tune the day when we know babies arrival.

At 3-6 months babies can generally hold their neck up and some can even sit supported. Their eyesight is now full range and they can interact with me. Many are giving their first smiles and are getting used to the camera.
At 6 months plus they are much chubbier and can be looking really cute. They have developed personality and character. If they are crawling I use natural light only and let them crawl around my studio.

I find the best age is for baby portraits is just before they start crawling, when they have put on some weight, are smiling and interacting with me.

If you want images of your new arrival with older siblings that's great but it can be a challenge and we do not always succeed. It depends on the age of the older sibling and how they feel about their new brother or sister.

Bring one or two outfits for bub, preferably plain so they don’t distract from the baby, though I find the best images are in their own skin. Make your appointment to coincide with just after a bub's sleep. Don’t wake bub to make a session in time, just ring me and let me know that you’ll be late. If bub is sick you may need to reschedule. I have 2 kids myself so I understand.

Portrait - Children

Children

Kids are much easier to photograph when they comfortable. When you first arrive I spend some time getting to know them and play with them so they like being around me.

Exploring the outdoors is much better for photographing little ones as they get too bored quickly in the studio and also outside they can run around and have some fun allowing me to capture more natural shots with great smiling faces.

The best light is between 4.30 and 6pm, depending on the time of year. If it rains we may have to reschedule for another day.

Dress your kids in simple clothes that do not distract from the face (ie avoid logos, stripes, and busy patterns). Brightly coloured clothes are fine.

For photos amongst trees in the park, warm coloured tops work best eg. red t-shirt teamed with demin shorts. Feel free to also bring their latest fad outfit or hats, jewellery, umbrellas, or any accessories that they would love to play with to incorporate into the session.

Weddings

Wedding Photography

Thank you for considering me as the one to trust with your wedding photography.
Your wedding photographer has only this one chance to capture this special event and produce the style of images that suit you. You need to like them as a person, trust them to do their job, and have confidence in their decisions and advice.

Investment
I understand the expense and amount of decision-making that goes into the planning of a wedding, and for that reason, only ask for a basic fee to be payable prior to the event..
This basic fee for 2009 is $2200  which includes….
  • high resolution images on disc. (approx 400-500) released after the purchase of a final product
  • photography on the day from 2 hours before the ceremony up until start of reception (4-6 hours)
  • pre- wedding meetings to help you organise the timing of your day in relation to photography.
Final Products
Slideshows, highlights movies, albums, books, prints and canvases can all be purchased after the wedding.
All prices include layout design and the editing of images.
Retouching is something I love to do with brides close ups, so your teeth are white, your eyes are clear and your makeup is perfect.  Because of the time involved with this process, only images that are chosen for final printed products are retouched.
